Extending the lift shafts presented huge challenges due to the tunnelling work required and BECK planned a successful method to manage these risks but also hold up the existing lift shafts.

The Cheval Gloucester Park Apartments are part of the Cheval Collection in London. A luxury, all apartment residence available to book from one night, to a one year stay.
The project required a full design & build approach and the building was stripped back to brick. Originally, there was no lift servicing the back of house areas, so four double lift cores were extended into the basement through a complex methodology of confined-space work, underpinning and excavation.
All windows and doors were replaced, along with a full restoration of all bedroom and bathroom suites. Also included in the renovation were the public areas on the ground floor and back of house areas on the two lower basement floors.
The Cheval Gloucester Park now boasts 99 luxury one, two and three bedroom London apartments in Kensington, beautifully equipped for leisure and business travellers alike. Guests will also benefit from a beautiful ground floor reception, 12 seater cinema, enlarged fitness centre and stunning mid-century design.
