We were delighted to return to Berlin recently for the International Hospitality Investment Forum 2023 and to host our annual drinks at Newton Bar.  In attendance from BECK were Chris Galloway, Dan Herron, Michael Walsh, Brian Hutchison, Edward Kent, Corin Dougall, Stuart Ladbury and Vanessa Budd.

As always, the conference was well attended, with a huge number of delegates representing many countries from around the world.  Two hundred and thirty industry leaders delivered 60 educational keynote speeches and panel sessions on this year’s theme of ‘Fortune Favours the Bold!’  Over 400 investors met with leading companies throughout the sector.  Networking and connecting with sponsors took place at the InterContinental Berlin.

This year’s theme recognised the current challenging conditions being faced in hospitality, including inflation, rising interest rates, debt availability, volatile capital markets, geopolitical instability, and staffing issues.  However, clear confidence in the sector and the flexibility to adapt and innovate, point to a strong future for the industry.

The hospitality landscape continues to evolve constantly.  Across the road at The Pullman, Adjacent Spaces saw a full day of insightful sessions on the potential for adjacent space to drive positive social impact.  Repurposing existing buildings, fostering civic pride, creating community, and generating jobs, were some of the benefits discussed.

On the final night of the conference, we hosted our annual drinks evening.  The team were pleased to welcome over 100 clients and valued contacts ranging from investors, hotel owners, operators, hotel valuers, architects, designers, project managers, cost consultants, service & structural Engineers.

On the night, guests were treated to a Ruinart Champagne reception, canapés and uplifting house beats.

It was great to reconnect at the famous Newton Bar, named after legendary photographer Helmut Newton.  The bar references the style of gentlemen’s clubs of the past century, with black leather armchairs and dark green marble counters.  At the relaxed setting, the team and our industry friends caught up, debriefed on their conference experiences, and shared ideas.

Vanessa Budd, Business Development Executive says: “It was brilliant to return to Newton Bar to celebrate the final night of the conference and a pleasure to host industry friends old and new, who were able to join us. There is much to look forward to in the future of the hospitality industry and BECK is proud to have a strong portfolio in such an exciting, ever evolving and dynamic industry.  The Newton Bar team was superb and provided the perfect backdrop to host our exclusive drinks.”

Ends.
