We are delighted to now be on-site at @thewhiteleylondon, to begin the UK’s first @sixsenses hotel.

With the base build advanced, our team begins the journey to deliver the fit-out and refurbishment which will transform part of the iconic, Grade II listed building. Over the next year, we will create a 111-key hotel with a sensory spa, wellness club & luxury Food & Beverage spaces. The redevelopment will focus on heritage preservation & include the restoration of the existing, feature staircase.

After months of planning and preparation, the team is excited to begin works!

Board Director @edtkent says: “Over the past nine months we have developed the design with @eprarchitects & @chapmanbdsp, whilst working closely with the team at @laingorourke. It is now an exciting time for all, as we begin on-site to turn the vision for the UK’s first Six Senses hotel into reality.”

@condenasttraveler has rounded up the 13 most luxurious hotel bathrooms in the world & we’re delighted @rosewoodlondon is on the list!

One of the former projects which sits proudly in our portfolio, Rosewood London is a triumph of understated luxury in an exquisitely restored Edwardian edifice. Our team poured over every detail of the beautiful bathrooms. The elegant luxury of the Manor House bathroom was created using the finest Italian marble, all black walls & walk in rainfall shower.
We’re delighted to have had a large group of staff participate in this year’s JLL Property Triathlon.

The event has been running for 15 years and is open to all competitors in full-time employment within the property industry.

Vanessa Budd, Business Development Executive says: “BECK has participated in the JLL triathlon for 6 years now and it has been fantastic to have so many of the team taking part in 2022. The atmosphere is always incredible; most importantly, we know our involvement helps raise money for essential causes.”
As England continues to swelter, we can think of no better place to hide away than the lush, tropical Jumera terrace at @themandrakehotel, one of our former projects.

The hanging garden of suspended jasmine and passionflower overlooks the courtyard with soaring ferns and private cabanas. A well-deserving Global Winner of Outdoor Space at the AHEAD Awards.
We’re delighted that the Holocaust Galleries at the @imperialwarmuseums London have won the ‘Exhibition Design’ award at the @designweekmag Awards 2022.

The design by @cassonmann incorporated twists, turns & dead ends to support the conceptual message from the brief that the Holocaust was not inevitable but followed a chaotic path. Graphics used the aesthetic of WW2-era filing documents, quotes on walls & plinths were written using the same typewriter style typography used for Nazi deportation orders & even the acoustics were tuned for different areas within the galleries.

The judges said: “A very difficult subject matter that was told poetically and through simple and effective design.”

Huge congratulations to the team at Casson Mann & @squintopera for their AVS design. The museum team at BECK is proud to have worked on an award-winning project of such significant cultural importance.
In October 2018, our Design Manager, Ben Johnson’s son, Samson, was diagnosed with a heart condition at just 10 weeks old.

After taking Samson to A&E his heart was found to be beating incredibly fast. A panic button was pressed to stop other patients from being treated & for all Paediatric consultants & a crash team to come immediately to his aid. He was later diagnosed with SVT, a hole in the heart & an ectopic heartbeat.

Now three years old, Samson continues to be monitored at the @royalbrompton. The research and hard work conducted by the British Heart Foundation have provided Ben’s family with much-needed information on his condition. So last weekend he rode the London to Brighton Cycle Ride to raise money for their vital work. BECK
was delighted to sponsor Ben for such a worthy cause.

Ben says: “It was a fantastic day with amazing weather and an incredible atmosphere. I rode with my father and the hardest bit was 7 miles before the end as we approached Ditchlin Beacon, the biggest hill of the day. The work of @the_bhf is important to so many families, it was an honour to ride in support of them. I’m so grateful to BECK & everyone who sponsored me.”

On the last day of @museumweek, the theme is the environment. The future of planet Earth depends on us halting the depletion of non-renewable resources.

For @burrellcollect in Glasgow, the team worked incredibly hard to futureproof the displays. The size of the collection means many items have never been on permanent display.

We created an innovative, modular, flexible system of setworks that can be taken apart & rebuilt, into many different configurations. This allows the collection to be reorganised limitless times & reduces the need for new displays to be built in the future.

It's a complex project that we are incredibly proud to have in our portfolio.
Today’s @museumweek theme is freedom and democracy, a topic which is raised frequently in society as it continues to evolve and change.

Last year, the team completed the galleries at @nottinghamcastle. An iconic historic landmark, which brings the story of Robin Hood to life. A man who is famed for robbing the rich & giving to the poor. Breaking free from the constrains of society and class at that time.

We delivered one brand new & five refurbished galleries for an engaging experience. Visitors can step back in time & explore the tempestuous history of Nottingham. The galleries hold a world-class collection of oil paintings, local lace, salt-gazed pottery, jewellery, & medieval alabaster sculptures.
“I want us to be recognised as a business that thinks about sustainability &means it. That the issues we focus on are not just lip service but genuinely make a difference.”

In March last year, @brianhutch35 created the BECK Sustainability Forum to drive forward our sustainable and environmental agenda. In that time, we have significantly improved recycling at head office, used waste carriers who recycle all waste from sites with nothing going to landfill, eliminated over 15,000 plastic bottles across the business, reduced our energy consumption & donated timber offcuts from our workshop to local colleges for use by their students in their coursework.

Link in bio for an interview with Brian on what the Forum has achieved so far & the exciting goals in place for the future.
Yesterday was World Environment Day! A planetary SOS because of climate change, nature & biodiversity loss, pollution and waste.

In the past year alone, we have eliminated the use of over 15,000 plastic bottles throughout the business & provided all employees with their own reusable bottles for hot & cold drinks. A sustainable alternative to the throwaway coffee cups often found on UK construction sites.

We recognise the importance of every individual & business across the globe taking measurable steps to continually reduce our impact on the planet. Our Sustainability Forum meets regularly to put goals in place for the business. Later this week, look out for an interview with @brianhutch35, Pre-Contracts Director at BECK &head of the Forum. Brian discusses all the Forum has achieved so far & the goals that are in place to achieve next.
Sometimes it’s good to step out of the workplace & really get to know the people you work with.

So, some of the hospitality team from one of our projects at Hanover Square spent a day together in the beautiful Surrey Hills.

A 20km hike in the early summer sunshine was taken on by five mini-groups of four. Each group was encouraged to share life skills, including map reading & using a compass. The theme of the day was positivity. Everyone was tasked with learning about something positive that a fellow teammate had achieved at work. The group ended the day with celebratory drinks at the picturesque @denbies_wine_estate in Dorking.

@edtkent, the Board Director at BECK who led the day says: “More often than not, a typical day on site is incredibly fast-paced & involves problem-solving at speed. I wanted the team to step away from work & enjoy a day at a much more relaxed pace. They enhanced the connections between them, enjoyed some time in a completely different environment & spent the day focussed only on the positive. Being mindful of the stress levels & mental health of our colleagues at BECK is just as important as the work they do.”
