Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia, Skopje

We are pleased to announce our latest delivered project; the rejuvenation of the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia in Skopje, Macedonia.

BECK was engaged to develop the already designed concept, prototype, sample, manage, fabricate and install the permanent exhibition space housed over two floors in a purpose-built Memorial Center in Macedonia.

BECK’s works included creating and enclosing separate immersive spaces with scenically reconstructed architecture to symbolise each era of Jewish Macedonia from Antiquity through to Jewish Macedonia Today. Each area was enhanced with graphic and audio-visual treatments as well as the display of artefacts and props, and reconstruction of models.

BECK delivered the project using experienced international specialists as well as engaging local specialists to provide the multimedia and filming elements alongside electrical and lighting provisions.

A major element of the project involved working closely with the designers, Berenbaum Jacobs Associates on the development of their scheme design whilst managing the overall project budget and programme. We were able to bring our build experience to the partnership, enhancing the final exhibition design and during this stage, we were also heavily involved in presenting this vision to the client and stakeholders which was a significant requirement for this project, given the sensitive nature of the subject matter involved.

BECK was also responsible for the graphic design element of the project using our in-house capabilities to bring together scholarly text, translations and images and present them in a style that was harmonious with the overall design of the exhibition.

BECK was hugely honoured and proud to be invited to work on this significant Memorial Center and we are so pleased with the results.
